God is called the father because He is the source of life.
But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him.
1 Corinthians 6:17 (ESV)
Man has been able to achieve a lot with his willpower, including overcoming terminal illness.
The only thing that he hasn’t been able to achieve with his power is to save himself.
“For when you eat from it, you will surely die.” (Genesis 2:7) was the instruction Adam was given by God.
But Adam disobeyed, and the result was, “Where are you?” (Genesis 3:9)
He became disconnected from God, the source of life, and died.
So the condition in which man found himself was described as “dysfunctional.”
” for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).
In that condition, through the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, God took man up and joined him to Himself.
Now anyone who believes in or accepts Christ as their sin-bearer receives life. (John 3:16)
What a God!
God, in his tender mercy, saw you in your state, picked you up, and joined you to himself.
“By his stripes, you were healed” (1 Peter 2:24).
The word healed means “to have life, to bind up, to save from sin, to cure, to make whole.”
So it’s salvation first.
You are joined to Him first, and then life flows into your system.
“The inhabitant won’t say, “I am sick.” The people who dwell in it will be forgiven their iniquity” (Isaiah 33:24)
Because you have been forgiven, you can’t be described as sick (disconnected from God) anymore because God has joined you to Himself.
And the lesser is included in the greater, so with salvation comes physical healing, preservation, prosperity, e.t.c.
But there had to be a joining together first so that life could flow.
You have now become one with God, eternally joined to the source of abundant and endless life.
